Measure the environmental impact of your water

In just a few clicks, you can calculate the CO₂e, or Carbon Dioxide Equivalent, of your current water brand. CO₂e is used to measure the impact of various greenhouse gases on global warming by converting them into the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide. With this information, you can calculate how much CO₂e you could save switching to BE WTR!

This rough estimate is designed to let us come up with a value in just a few questions, making things easier for customers, so some simplifications are necessary:

  • For simplicity, we’re only looking at still bottles, not sparkling.
  • All bottles are assumed to be 75cL.
  • When it comes to transportation, we’re treating all bottles as if they’re plastic (which weighs less), not glass (which weighs more).
  • Travel distance between countries is rounded for convenience. If it’s less than 3,000 km, we use 57gCO₂/km (truck). If it’s over 3,000 km, we use 13gCO₂/km (boat).
  • The BE WTR footprint is based on Swiss data, with the BiG bottling plant, for simplicity, using a 10km distance.
