An international showcase for lifestyle and high-end hospitality, the French Riviera nonetheless presents major challenges: high quality standards, a premium image, and strong environmental responsibility.
It is within this context that BE WTR has chosen to establish BiG 407 Nice, a 266 m² urban bottling site with a production capacity of up to 1.2 million bottles per year.
The water used comes from the local network and is filtered using BE WTR’s patented Swiss filtration technology before being bottled on site in returnable glass bottles. It is then distributed to nearby restaurants and hotels.
This model is designed to meet the standards of bottled water – controlled quality, compliance with industrial regulations, and consistency of organoleptic profile – while significantly reducing the carbon footprint associated with consumption and enhancing the value of a local resource.
“The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area perfectly embodies our vision: an international and demanding city, yet deeply rooted in its territory. This bottling plant reflects a local production approach, designed to give real meaning to bottled water consumption within the region.”
Gautier Richard, Managing Director, BE WTR France
The site will supply several iconic establishments of the destination, including Boscolo Nice, Anantara Plaza Nice, Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat, and Le Couvent Nice. The goal is to support 4- and 5-star hotels, major brasseries, and restaurants in Nice and Monaco in their transition towards more responsible practices, without compromising the guest experience.
The opening of BiG Nice represents an investment of over €600,000, made with the financial support of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region. In the long term, the site will create approximately 10 jobs.
For hotels and restaurants, this solution reconciles service quality, brand image, and CSR commitments, while offering guests locally produced water that aligns with growing expectations for responsibility and transparency.
At the heart of BiG Nice, BE WTR deploys a model designed to meet the highest standards of luxury hospitality and fine dining, within a rigorously regulated framework.
The site operates under prefectural authorization and complies with some of the most stringent sanitary standards. The water, sourced locally, is bottled on site through a fully controlled process, ensuring consistent quality at every stage.
Returnable glass bottles, designed to be reused more than 300 times, are central to this circular model. Washed, filled, and marked on site, they ensure traceability, safety, and reliability, before being fully recycled at end of life.
BE WTR offers its partner establishments 50 cl and 75 cl bottles, still or sparkling, while significantly reducing the carbon impact associated with bottled water consumption. Produced through a patented filtration process, the water delivers controlled neutrality and precise taste balance. It complements tasting experiences with accuracy, never overpowering them.
With 17 BiG sites worldwide, BE WTR is rolling out a scalable model that can be adapted to the needs and volumes of each city.
The company installs on average one site per month globally, with the ambition of establishing a BE WTR site in every territory where demand exists.
The opening in Nice is part of a broader dynamic: that of a new generation of bottled water, conceived as a local, responsible, and desirable project.
